Sally Yaich- Pink Caterpillar Photography - www.pink-caterpillar.com

Sally already had a website, built entirely in Flash. Though it took about 2 minutes to load, it was serving its purpose (thanks to collaboration between Adobe and Google, Flash websites are getting indexed better than they used to). However when Sally wanted to add pictures to her photography business portfolio, or make minor updates like changing her prices or contact information, she had to rely on contracting designers which can be costly and time consuming. We got in touch when I answered her advert in craigslist for someone to “add some pictures to a Flash slideshow”. I gave her a quote for that but also, after looking over the site I gave detailed explanations of how WordPress could revolutionize the site administration and how much it would cost to theme a template to look just like her old Flash one.

Thanks to WordPress (and also the NextGen Gallery Plugin) Sally can now:

  • upload and edit entire new galleries,
  • add music, titles, descriptions, watermarks to the photos
  • make any edits she wants to the page content
  • password protect particular galleries for her clients to view privately
  • experience all the benefits of having a site optimized for search engines from the get go.

If you have a website, Flash or HTML, are frustrated with trying to update it yourself or are constantly emailing your designer to make changes, get in touch and I’ll give you an honest, non-techy analysis of how WordPress and its many features could make your life a lot easier.

Sally, unprompted, just sent me this kind email:

You rock Gwyn! I can’t tell you how much I have enjoyed working with you. You are really great at what you do! Thank you so much for your attention to detail and all of your hard work. You have exceeded my expectations. You are so on top of things, I can’t thank you enough!

Another craigslist.org happy ending.
