On Saturday I travelled up state to Greenville to watch the dog race. Freezing it was, but it was a great photo op and everyone-crowds, mushers and dogs- looked like they were having as much fun as I was.

It’s taken a while to overcome the inertia of not posting here but I reckon it’s time to start up again. This’ll require a new category for Maine, and probably some new tags for seafood and snow. Maybe I’ll even get round to my old blog again soon.

Here’s one from a couple of weeks ago at Topsham Fair (pronounced Topsum) apparently. I used a tripod and everything.

This shot was a happy accident. I was walking along the railway track and saw a light in the distance coming out of the blizzard, gradually it became obvious it was the train I saw stationed there t’other day and it was belching out steam and making a fair old racket. As it went past, Santa (the American Father Christmas) leaned out and all in all it was a pretty special moment.

I am extremely happy about all the snow that arrived today…

A polarising filter, slightly longer exposure and, most importantly, zooming while pressing the shutter created this here effect.
