It just dawned on my I haven’t made the New York category link yet… so I’ll hold off on new biggapple pix until I get round to that particular item.

This one’s from a wander down to the beach a couple of weeks ago on Sally’s birthday and our anniversary. Lovely light, lovely location. DrSita paddled and I got my trainers wet by accident.

The sunsets the last few days have been stunning. Huge storm clouds, red-tinged light, and all at the perfectly acceptable hour of about 9pm. It’s been raining a fair amount too, but the good, Mexican, kind of rain that soaks you to the skin in 30 seconds but is as warm as a heated swimming pool. An hour or two later and other than the occasional missing road, everything’s back to normal. Love it.

Anyway, this ain’t a sunset, but a quick snap of the sky while walking Bolo the Beagle in the tapatían afternoon.

Incoming storm clouds provided perfect lightbox conditions for this one. And to the left there was a mezcal factory so this was a full-on sensory overload.

Then I decided that was a bit flippant and doesn’t translate culturally outside of the US anyway.
Hoping to start posting properly again here. At least 2 a week. I’d forgotten I had an ‘Elsewhere‘ category so that’ll make it easier to put a few up from our lovely holiday back in the UK and Ireland.

Brunswick and Topsham are also connected by this bridge over the Androscoggin River. This is from last week when a day of showers gave way to low mist illuminated by a setting sun, one of those moments when I was glad to have my camera on me.

From Saturday’s Maine Photography Meetup in Wolf’s Neck State Park, 20 minutes south of here. Just the 5 of us, but it was a grand day for a walk. More soon I hope.

This pedestrian bridge was built in 1892 to connect the towns of Brunswick and Topsham. In 1999 a study reported it had 5-10 years of life left in it so a small fortune was raised and in 2004 it was rebuilt and now has another 50 years of dangling to look forward to. As to this photoblog ‘What’s new?’ you ask?.. Well…

Where to start?

First off, there’s a proper search page that has long been missing. Now if you need to find a picture of Atticus for your school project on Handsome Bilingual Schipperkes you won’t have to click around the ‘Nature’ tags all day to find him.

Next up, some photos don’t really benefit from this default dark background. It works for photos like this and these, but sometimes it’s nicer to see them on a white matte, as it were. Now you can click the “On White” below the photo and it will ajaxly pop up with a snowy #FFFFFF backdrop.

Thirdly, I’m an avid reader of the interwebs. I’m deskbound most days and subscribe to quite a few feeds on photography and suchlike. If I see an article I think would be of interest to a wider audience I share it on Google Reader. See the last 5 articles I handpicked over on the About page.

This one was on the way to the Topsham fairground where the other long exposure shot was taken. I like the light and how the stars are visible.

Matey here was following us when we went lobster fishing. The bait from the lobster pots gets chucked into the sea and is replaced with fresh herrings. The seagulls were well used to this process and having them hover close by made them prime targets for me camera.

Even the dodgy bits of Portland have their charms.
